Graves County man in jail after meth bust

GRAVES COUNTY, Ky. - A Graves County man is in jail after an early morning meth bust.

Sheriff Dewayne Redmon says investigators received a tip of illegal drug activity occurring in the 400 block of South 10th Street in Mayfield. Deputies, along with investigators from Marshall and McCracken counties, then searched the home early Tuesday morning.

Investigators found 27-year-old Mauricio Vera-Alvarado hiding behind a storage unit near the home. Methamphetamine and digital scales were then found near Vera-Alvarado's hiding spot.

Vera-Alvarado was arrested and charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st degree Methamphetamine (greater than 2 grams), Tampering with Physical Evidence and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was booked into the Graves County Jail.
