FANCY FARM, Ky. - Two men are in jail after a late night search warrant turned up drugs and stolen items just south of Fancy Farm.

Graves County Sheriff Dewayne Redmon says 18-year-old Matt HIggins and 23-year-old Robert Sams were arrested after deputies executed a search warrant at a home late Wednesday night.

Redmon says when deputies arrived at the door of the home, Sams attempted to slam the door and flee on foot upon realizing deputies were there. Officers caught him a short time later. Higgins was also found inside the home.

A search warrant turned up marijuana and illegal narcotics "in plain view," according to Sheriff Redmon. Additional large bags of marijuana, scales and other drug paraphernalia were also located with the help of the Mayfield Police Department K-9 Unit.

In addition to drug-related items, deputies also found several stolen items that were acquired in recent thefts around Fancy Farm, including a firearm.

Higgins ans Sams were charged with Trafficking in Marijuana less than 8 oz. (firearm enhanced), Possession of Controlled Substance 2nd Degree, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Receiving Stolen Property Firearm and Receiving Stolen Property less than $10,000.00. Sams was also charged with Fleeing and Evading on Foot.

Both suspects are in the Graves County Jail.
