Kentucky jobless rate remains 7.9 percent in February

FRANKFORT, Ky. - Kentucky's preliminary unemployment rate for the month of February remained unchanged from January at 7.9 percent.

The Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet says the number is down .4 percentage points from 8.3 percent in February 2012.

The number is slightly higher than the official national unemployment rate of 7.7 percent.

Kentucky’s civilian labor force in February was 2,083,557, a drop of 2,148 from January. Employment fell by 149 people, while the number of unemployed people dropped by 1,999.
