LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A western Kentucky man who was listed in the "perversion files" released by the Boy Scouts of America last year is facing a trial in Christian County on charges that he sexually abused a 12-year-old boy.

A judge on Wednesday set an Aug. 12 trial date for 74-year-old Coley T. Carl, who is charged with three counts of first-degree sexual abuse.

Carl landed in the secret file kept by the Boy Scouts after he was sentenced to seven years in prison in Hopkins County in 1978 for sodomy and sexual abuse convictions. About 14,500 pages of the secret files were released by order by the Oregon Supreme Court last year.

Carl was an assistant scout master in the late 1970s. A call to his attorney Wednesday was not immediately returned.
