Large fire in Land Between The Lakes torches 300 acres

LAND BETWEEN THE LAKES — Nearly 300 acres of land burned Saturday during a fire in the northern part of LBL, according to spokesperson Jan Bush. 

The fire broke out near the Nickell Branch area of LBL, on the Kentucky Lake side, and continued to spread as multiple fire crews tried to put out the flames. 
 
Eventually crews executed what's called a 'control burn' to lead the fire towards the lake.
 
Bush said that there were no injuries sustained in the process of getting the fire under control.
