Local man charged in check forging scheme
HICKORY, Ky.— A local man has been charged with two felonies in connection to a check forging scheme.
Kentucky State Police say Timothy Wharton of Hopkinsville created and cashed a computer-generated, forged check from The Graves County Board of Education for almost $2,000. The board's finance officer noticed the discrepancy and notified police.
KSP put out a warrant and then arrested Wharton on Friday. he's charged with possession of a forged instrument and theft. Additional charges are pending.
Wharton is being held in the Henderson County Detention Center. The investigation is ongoing ###
