Man loses consciousness, hits oncoming car, killing driver

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ky. - A 37 year-old Gilbertsville, Kentucky man died after the pick-up truck he was driving hit a car whose driver lost consciousness.

Marshall County Sgt. Mark Balentine says 69 year-old Walter Smith of Benton, Ketucky lost consciousness on US Highway 68 around 1pm Saturday.

Smith's car crossed the center line and hit Beard's truck.  The truck overturned.  Beard died on scene.

Smith was taken to Marshall County Hospital for treatment.  Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts.

The crash is still under investigation.
