MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. — A man shot by a local deputy two weeks ago has died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds.

The McCracken County Coroner confirms exclusively to Local 6 that Michael Lakin died just after 12:30p.m. today at Western Baptist Hospital.

Authorities said McCracken County Sheriff's Deputy Jared Rivera was called to a home on Oriole Lane on October 6.  Lakin then came out of the house with a sword and a handgun.   Deputy Rivera shot him twice in the upper torso after he refused to drop the weapons.

Deputy Rivera returned to work earlier this week after going through various tests and counseling.

An autopsy is scheduled for Lakin Sunday morning in Louisville.
