PADUCAH, Ky. - Reaching 50 years can turn into a theatrical celebration whether it's "over the hill stickers" or a cake covered with candles.  Just imagine if the party was led by actors.

The Market House Theatre turned the big 50 Monday.

The group was formed in 1963 when the Paducah Civic Beautification Board wanted to save The Market House building from being turned into a parking lot.  They proposed turning it into an arts center.

The group's first production was "The Male Animal" with two performances in April of 1964.

50 years later the group performed more than 540 shows... including their largest production ever this year, Les Miserables.
