Mattel makes generous donation to local club

PADUCAH- When about 300 new toys showed  up at the Oscar Cross Boys and Girls Club the day before Christmas Eve, Allen Treese knew they had their work cut out for them.

As Executive Director of the Club, he started contacting families who could use a few more toys to open on Christmas morning. Then he set to work sorting.

Malachi Kirby and Aleja Grant are both Club members, They spent their Christmas Eve helping Treese load the Club vans and deliver the boxes to dozens of families.

Kirby said he there wasn't anywhere else he'd rather be on Christmas Eve.

It's been fun just to see like parents come to the door, seeing a kid with a box of toys and knowing that their kid is going to have something for Christmas the next day," he said

Grant said she feels like the more she gives, the more she receives.

"You need to give. It makes you feel good and it makes other people happy."


PADUCAH - The Oscar Cross Boys and Girls Club got an unexpected pre-Christmas surprise earlier tonight

"One of our national partners is Mattel and they made a donation to our club. It's been a great blessing, so we're going to be able to pass those along to some of our kids over the next 24 hours," Club Executive Director Allen Treece said.

Toy-making company Mattell a truck full of 65 boxes of toys. The club estimates it's about 300 new toys ready to put smiles on many young faces.
