MURRAY, Ky. - A building that was among the first at a local university will be torn down in the weeks ahead.

Ordway Hall has been a fixture on the Murray State campus for 82 years, but it violates several safety codes.

A study by the state found it would likely collapse on its own in the next five to ten years if it's not torn down.

The building, which has large amounts of asbestos, water damage and a weak structure, will be demolished in June.

The campus does not yet have plans for the space once the building is razed.
