MARSHALL COUNTY, Ky- Eerily similar: That's how Todd Freeman describes Thursday's homicide in Murray and what happened to him 15 years ago.

He says they both happened in the morning. The victim was shot in Murray, and so was he. The similarities continue, down to the fact that the same woman is accused of pulling the trigger in both cases.

Michelle Baxter is facing charges in Calloway County for Buddy Baxter's death. She was charged with shooting Freeman, too, but she pleaded to lesser charges and was put on shock probation.

Freeman said, at the time she was on trial, he couldn't remember what happened to him back in 1998, but he remembers now. He told her he wanted a divorce after four years of marriage.

"That was on July the 8 and July the 9, the next morning, she shot me at 7:32 A.M. while I was laying in the bed."

He can even remember what she told him before she pulled the trigger.

"She said, 'Well, if you want me to be gone, ain't nobody else gonna have you.' She pointed the gun at my head and I laid over and the last thing I saw was the alarm clock."

The bullet entered his head through his right temple and exited the left temple. He survived, but lost his vision. Michelle initially told police he shot himself. It wasn't until weeks later that Michelle was charged.

Freeman says he's endured years of pain through his recovery. His says his prayers are with the Baxter family, and his hopes are that this time, his ex-wife is held accountable for her actions.
