At approximately 11:00 p.m., Sunday, Calloway County 911 Dispatch received a call from a private boater on Kentucky Lake indicating that navigation lights on the US 68/KY 80 Eggners Ferry Bridge were out.

Calloway 911 Dispatch reported the call to Marshall County 911 Dispatch who contacted a Kentucky State Trooper in the area who checked the bridge and confirmed the navigation lights were not working.

Marshall County Dispatch contacted Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 1 personnel about 11:15 p.m.  They immediately reported the navigation light outage to the U.S. Coast Guard Regional Operations Center in Louisville.  The Coast Guard issued a notice to mariners in the area that the bridge is dark.

A KYTC electrical crew will be at the bridge first thing Monday morning to check on the lights.

You may recall the Eggners Ferry Bridge was struck by the 8200 ton Cargo Ship Delta Mariner on January 26th, knocking a 322 ft. span off the structure and into Kentucky Lake.

Navigation lighting on the bridge was repaired during work to replace the span and reopen the bridge to vehicular traffic just before Memorial Day.
