Paducah Crash Closes Lowertown Street

UPDATE: 

10 a.m.

Austin Guill, Paducah Police Officer was in an accident while on duty early this morning. 

Guill was life flighted to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville around 3:30 a.m.

He has some abdominal fractures and other lower body internal issues but no head or upper body injuries. Guill is not expected to require major surgery.

UPDATE:

We've learned that a police officer was involved in an incident earlier this morning in Lowertown Paducah at 7th and Madison near the Madison Street Apartments. 

The officer is in serious but stable condition after a two-vehicle collision. 

Preliminary reports are that a light colored mini-van ran the stop sign a the intersection and struck the police cruiser.  The driver of the van then fled on foot and was apprehended a short distance away by a police K-9 unit.  

The intersection was closed for several hours for a collision reconstructionist to investigate.  We will provide more updates as they become available.

PADUCAH, Ky. - A car crash in Paducah's Lowertown has caused police to block off a section of 7th Street between Harrison and Monroe. 

The crash - involving at least two cars - happened around 1:30 Wednesday morning at the corner of 7th and Madison near the Madison Street Apartments.  There's currently no word on what exactly happened or if there are any injuries.
