Paducah Power to discuss possible rate increases today
PADUCAH, Ky. - Customers who use Paducah Power should prepare for their bills to go up.
Paducah Power has completed a rate study, which found rates need to rise for the service to remain profitable.
The study recommends a 7.5% increase for residential customers. Small businesses would see a 4% increase on April 1 and a 5% increase next year. Large businesses and industrial customers would see no raise this year, but a 5% increase next year.
Andrea Underwood with Paducah Power says the increase is driven by the way the economy has changed.
The board will discuss the study and the proposed increases at a public hearing today at 5 p.m. at the Paducah Power building on Broadway.
After the hearing, the board is expected to decide on the increases at its March 25 meeting.
