MARSHALL COUNTY, Ky. - A judge says he plans to sign off on a plea deal in the case of a man who investigators say was responsible for a deadly car crash.

Circuit Court Judge Dennis Foust says he will sign the agreement Wednesday.

Investigators say Cory Burkeen was responsible for the 2012 crash that critically injured Marshall County teen Landon Lovett. She later died from her injuries.

Foust says mediation took place Tuesday, with both parties signing off on the agreement. Burkeen's murder charge has been amended to 2nd Degree Manslaughter as part of the deal. He also faces two counts of Wanton Endangerment and 1st Degree Assault.

Sentences will run concurrently for 10 years. Burkeen must serve at least 85 percent of his sentence because assault is considered a violent offense.

Burkeen will also be sentenced to five years probation on an unrelated burglary charge after his sentence is completed.

Sentencing for Burkeen will take place September 16.
