Public meeting to discuss proposed electric rate hike set for Tuesday
PADUCAH, Ky. - You can have your say about a proposed electric rate hike at a public meeting tonight.
Big Rivers Electric Corporation could raise rates by 20 percent for customers in western Kentucky.
The Kentucky Public Service Commission will hold a video conference in Crounse Hall at West Kentucky Community and Technical College. The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m.
The PSC says in a statement that Big Rivers Electric is seeking to adjust rates to increase annual revenue by $74 million. That money is to offset the loss of its biggest customer, the Century Aluminum Company Smelter.
