Repair work continuing on Eggners Ferry Bridge WednesdayAURORA, Ky. - Work on the Eggners Ferry Bridge is moving along, and workers may take another step today. Hall Contracting has tentative plans to pour new concrete on the pier caps of the US 68/KY 80 Eggners Ferry Bridge around noon Wednesday, starting on the Trigg County side. They expect to immediately move to the Marshall County side to make their concrete pour there. This is to repair the pier caps to prepare for placement of a new 322 ft. span on the structure sometime in the next few weeks. The 80-year-old Eggners Ferry Bridge carries U.S. 68/KY 80 across Kentucky Lake. The bridge provides the western entrance to Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area, one of Kentucky’s most important tourism sites. A 322-foot span of the bridge was destroyed when struck by an 8,600-ton cargo ship on the night of Jan. 26.
