HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. - Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear announced the expansion of Riken Elastomers Corporation's operations in Hopkinsville.

The expansion includes a $7 million investment and the addition of six new jobs. A new 20,000-square-foot addition to the facility will be built to make room for three new production lines.

Riken is a Japanese-owned manufacturer of custom plastic compounds for the automotive industry. The company first launched its Hopkinsville operations in 2007. The latest expansion will increase its workforce at the facility to 24 employees.

The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority approved up to $50,000 in tax benefits for Riken's expansion.
