Shooting incident in Calvert City leaves 1 dead

9:30 a.m.

Further investigation revealed that the couple had been arguing leading up to the incident.

Jay Seaford had fired two shots into the floor, and then some time later Rhonda Seaford had the gun and pulled the trigger, shooting the deceased in the back. 

An autopsy will be performed.

 

UPDATE:

CALVERT CITY, Ky - Marshall County Sheriff's Department say Rhonda Seaford shot and killed Jay Seaford last night Sunday, November 3rd around 7 p.m in the 17- hundred block of Horace- Barnes Road.

The Marshall County Coroner pronounced 46-year-old Jay Seaford dead at the scene. He was shot in the back with a small caliber handgun after an argument with his wife.

Rhonda Seaford did not receive injuries in the altercation, and was taken to the Marshall County Jail.

A 13-year-old who was also inside the home at the time of the shooting did not receive any injuries.

Sergeant Eddie McGuire says the re appears to have been a history of domestic violence in the household, but the Sheriff's Department had never been involved.

According to Sergeant McGuire's knowledge neither of the parties involved has had a record.

Murder charges are pending.

CALVERT CITY, Ky -- Marshall County Sheriff Kevin Byars has confirmed a shooting in Calvert City tonight.

It happened around 7 p.m. off of Horace Barnes Roads.

Byars could not confirm any other details.
