Tennessee trio arrested on drug charges in Kentucky

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. - Three people are in jail on a number of drug charges following a traffic stop. 

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department got a call Friday from a pharmacy on Lone Oak Road. The caller told deputies that there was suspicious activity involving a car occupied by three people from Tennessee.  Three people who were trying to buy Sudafed at the pharmacy. 
 
The witness told investigators one of the three went inside the business, bought Sudafed, got back in the car and left the area.  A short time later the same car returned and another person from the car tried to buy Sudafed. 
 
McCracken County Sheriff Jon Hayden and a Sheriff's Deputy stopped the vehicle while it was traveling on US 45 just south of Lone Oak around 3:15p.m. 
 
The three in the car were Jerry W. Pate, Melissa A. Davis and James H. Archie, all of Troy, Tennessee.
 
Pate's driver's license revealed it was suspended. A computer check revealed that both Archie and Pate were wanted out of Fulton County, Kentucky for various offenses. Both men were arrested on the outstanding warrants. 
 
Deputies searched the men and found several doses of Xanax on Pate.  During a search of Davis deputies found several doses of Methadose.  Deputies then found several does of Sudafed in the car. 
 
An nvestigation by detectives with the drug division showed the Trio had traveled to Kentucky to buy Sudafed for the manufacture of methamphetamine. All three people were arrested and taken to the McCracken County Jail.
 
Pate and Davis both have prior convictions in Tennessee for promoting the manufacture of methamphetamine.
 
The investigation is ongoing.

Charges: Outstanding warrant (Fulton County), Operating on a suspended driver's license, possession of a 3rd degree controlled substance- Xanax and Conspiracy to unlawful possession of a methamphetamine precursor ( A class "D" felony punishable by 1-5 years in prison)
 
 Arrested: James H. Archie 38, of Troy TN
 
Charges: Outstanding warrant (Fulton County) and Unlawful possession of a methamphetamine precursor ( A class "D" felony punishable by 1-5 years in prison)
 
 Arrested: Melissa A. Davis 34, of Troy TN        
 
Charges: Possession of 1st degree controlled substance-methadose and  Conspiracy to unlawful possession of a methamphetamine precursor ( A class "D" felony punishable by 1-5 years in prison)
