MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. - A West Paducah man is in jail after he allegedly trespassed onto private property and stole a farming plow.

Deputies arrested 30-year-old Benjamin Crabtree after an investigation into the theft. The McCracken County Sheriff's Department says Crabtree admitted to trespassing onto the victim's property and cutting down two small trees with a chainsaw before dragging the plow out of a wooded area. The incident occurred on April 9.

Deputies say Crabtree returned to the property the next day, loaded the plow onto a trailer and drove it to River City Metals to be scrapped. Surveillance video from River City Metals helped identify Crabtree as the suspect.

Crabtree was charged with Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disposition (Farm Equipment), Criminal Trespassing 3rd degree and Failure to Notify Address Change to Department of Transportation. He is in the McCracken County Regional Jail.
