SYMSONIA, KY- Firefighters responded around 10 Monday morning to a home on Highway 131. Fire Chief Wally Nall says the fire was electrical in nature, caused by an extension

cord in an area where the homeowners were renovating.

Firefighters worked for hours, battling to save the home. There was no one inside, firefighters knew that. But neighbor Tim Fowler says he did not.

Fowler and other neighbors braved smoke, heat, and flames to make sure his neighbor would make it out.

"I tried to unlock the door and it was locked. I tried to kick the door in but couldn't get in, that's when we starting busting the windows out," he remembered.

Billy Lenhart, as it turns was in his backyard.

"You don't even think about it, you think about your fellow brother," he said of his act.

Homeowners Mary and Billy Lenhart have received help from the Red Cross. The couple does have insurance.
