2 bodies found after NJ standoff; suspect killed

TRENTON, N.J. - Police say they decided to storm a home in South Trenton, N.J., this morning because of what they described as the "deteriorating state of mind" of a registered sex offender who had barricaded himself for days in the home with his girlfriend's three children.
Police shot and killed the man and rescued the children. They recovered the bodies of their mother and another sibling. Police believe the woman had been dead for two weeks.
The standoff ended at 3:45 a.m., about 37 hours after it began.
Police say they were called to the home on reports that a man had barricaded himself inside. Authorities say police entered the home and found the man brandishing a gun.
