2 local men face drug charges
MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. - Two men are in jail after a drug investigation in McCracken County, Kentucky, on Monday.
Detectives say an investigation began after the sheriff's department received tips that 55-year-old Joe Kent Elliot was involved in drug trafficking.
During the investigation, detectives found 43-year-old Michael Reese, of Metropolis, Illinois, to be in possession of methamphetamine, Lortab and drug paraphernalia on Monday afternoon. Reese was arrested and charged Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Lortab and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Detectives continued their investigation into Monday night and found Joe Kent Elliot in the driveway of his home on Old Lovelaceville Road. A search of the home revealed methamphetamine, cocaine, Hydrocodone, Xanax, drug paraphernalia, several guns and cash.
Elliot was arrested and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Cocaine, two counts of Possession of Controlled Substance 2nd Degree, Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The sheriff's department says the charges against Elliot are firearm enhanced due to the close proximity of the guns to the drugs and paraphernalia inside the home. That means the charges could carry stronger penalties if Elliot is convicted.
