UNION COUNTY, IL - Tommy Reams said he is not a killer as he entered Union County Circuit Court Monday morning. He is charged with First Degree Murder and Home Invasion.
Investigators say Ream beat Gerald Dziczkowski with an air gun and kicked him repeatedly. Sheriff's deputies found Dzizckowski dead at his home at 250 Kimber Rd. outside Dongola, Ill., October 22, 2009.
Investigators say another man, Michael Ellis, helped bound Dziczkowski with duct tape and an extension cord, and then stuck around to make sure he would not escape.
"Right now, Mr. Ellis is charged with First Degree Murder as well, on an accountability theory of aiding and abetting the murder," Union Co. State's Attorney Tyler Edmonds says. "There may be more charges forthcoming."
Police in Mississippi arrested Ellis early Sunday morning. He was trying to run from a traffic safety roadblock when he was arrested.
