FT. HOOD, TX - (AP) -- Seven people were killed and 20 wounded in a pair of shootings Thursday at the Fort Hood Army base in Texas, the Army says.
An army spokesman in Washington says the base has been locked down following the shootings. Another official told The Associated Press that at least one shooter had been caught.
The FBI is sending agents to the scene.
Army spokesman Lt. Col. Nathan Banks says the first shooting began at about 1:30 p.m. at a personnel and medical processing office. The facility, called a Soldier Rating and Processing center, handles administrative details for soldiers.
Banks says two shooters were apparently involved. There was no immediate word on who they were, nor on identities of the dead.
Banks says the second incident took place at a theater on the sprawling base.
Another Army official identified that site as the Howze Theater.
That official, who requested anonymity to discuss an evolving incident, said a graduation had been scheduled for 2 p.m. at the theater.
The White House said President Barack Obama was notified of the shootings.

Obama has already come out and said let's don't jump to conclusions about the shooting! I'm suprised he din't say the police dept acted stupidly for shooting the suspect as he was only using his freedom of speech and relegion to shout Alla Akbar as he mowed down our military men and women! Let's not offend the muslim world even though it's obvious this is domestic terrorism! What a joke.

My prayers go out to those injuried and the familes of those killed. It appears our law enforcement agencies need more time on the firing range - several shots and no kill? How on earth did this man ever live anyway? NO ONE should have lifted a finger to help him, let him lay on the ground and die. Now WE'll have to spend a fortune getting him well and defending him in court!

hey Anonymous, its not the war, Its our open borders and come to america and have a great free life, enjoy our education and pick your religion and its ok. You have the right to religion but dont hate us because we dont beleive the same. My god says witness to all and love everyone, not kill them because they dont have the same religion or worship the same god. This was a terrorist act on American soil. May god be with each and every family affected by this thoughtless act of a coward.

Keep fighting a useless war and you will keep seeing more and more killing rampages. Even our soldiers are beginning to hate their job.

Dr. Hasan was one of the first doctors to help me and my wife when we found out she had terminal cancer at NNMC Bethesda August/2002. He was a wonderful man and a pleasure to talk with. He was very adamant about his religion. I feel deep sorrow for all the families he has injured and destroyed today. A man with great abilities and promises trained by the US military has taken a path that tarnishes his religious beliefs and principles for all for ever.

This is a tragedy for people in fort hood. I think the army should look at more options to keep this from happening on any military base.
