CRITTENDEN COUNTY, KY - Autopsy results are back in the case of a 13-year-old girl from Caldwell County who died two months ago. Crittenden County Coroner Joe Myers said Gabrielle Wilson died due to complications of an influenza H1N1 infection.

The Kentucky Department of Public Health had already said her death was related to H1N1, but Myer's autopsy report confirmed the cause of death. Wilson was a seventh grader and cheerleader at Caldwell County Middle School.

H1N1 deaths continue to grow in Local 6's four state region. In Kentucky the number stands at 22, in Illinois 48, in Missouri 7 and in Tennessee there have been 46 deaths, 11 of those death are children.

Preventing your child from catching the H1N1 flu is the focus for many parents in our region. all this week, the Marshall County Health Department is administering the shots to students during school hours.

Students are moving from the classroom to the clinic all week inside Marshall County Schools. They're getting the H1N1 flu shot in hopes of sidestepping an illness that's sweeping the country.

One by one South Marshall Middle School students rolled up their sleeves for the vaccine. Some students like 7th grader Sarah Hendricks got the nasal spray. Her mom says it's important kids get the shot.

"It was very convenient for me as a parent," Nina Hendricks said. She isn't just a parent, she also works at South Marshall Middle and was one of only a handful of faculty members to take advantage of getting a shot. "I want every possible opportunity for my daughters not to have to go through actually having H1N1. If we can get vaccinated and not have it then that's what I want for my girls."

Lori Thompson with the Marshall County Health Department reported roughly 30-percent of students got the okay from parents to get the shot during school hours. That's roughly 1,400 kids. Parents had to sign off so their kids could get the shot.

The goal now is to keep the kids who walk through school hallways healthy and hope the ones who didn't get a shot during school hours get one in the future. Children whose parents didn't want them to getting the H1N1 shot at school Monday will have the opportunity during two evening clinics.

The evening clinics are schedule for 12/03/09 from 3p.m.-8p.m. at Benton Church of Christ and 12/10/09 from 3p.m.-6:30p.m. at Calvert City Church of Christ.

I believe there are a lot of cures for many disease out there in this world. The almighty Dollar stands in the way of them being released. The pharmacies would lose money among others. I personally would not take any of the flu shots they have to offer Free or not.

Why doesn't the medical field tell the public if they gargle salt water everyday and also do their nostrils this will prevent getting the H1N1; this came from a local doctor that treated a friend of ours son, whom the doctor treated him for getting the H1N1 virus

Please check OSHA Standard #1910.1030------A33. Gloves are not required to be worn when giving an injection as long as hand contact with blood or other potentially infectious materials is not reasonably anticipated. They are following standards.

The clinic's need to practice safe hygiene!! I noticed on the 6 pm news no one is wearing gloves. I do not want any one administering injections to me or my family that doesn't have on gloves. Parents beware of this practice

there really isn't a need for gloves. She is not coming into contact with any blood/body fluids from this patient. She is using the inhalation method for the vaccine. NOW, if it had been an injection, then of course, gloves would be warranted.
