GOP promises big health care fight

By Web Editor - Ethan Fife

Now that the Senate healthcare bill has been unveiled, one Kentucky politician is promising an early showdown on the subject.

Republicans are vowing an intense struggle to block the legislation and deny the president a victory on the tumultuous issue. The Senate bill would extend coverage to all but 6 percent of eligible Americans and bar the private insurance industry from denying coverage based on pre-existing conditions.

The Democratic bill is a $849 billion measure designed to rely on cuts in future Medicare spending to cover costs and have higher payroll taxes for higher income Americans. There are also provisions imposing taxes on patients undergoing elective cosmetic surgeries.

Minority Leader Mitch McConnell warns the floor discussion quote, "will not be a short debate." He says Americans know that higher premiums, tax increases, and Medicare cuts to pay for more government do not add up to reform.

If somebody isn't able to guy health insurance then they are simply not working hard enough. They either need to go back to school and get a education or simply pick up the pace. I'm tired of lazy people wanting everything for free. Get a job hippies.

Once this health bull passes we will have the government, who americans cannot sue, denying coverage, rescinding payments, gouging consumers, and deeming procedures unneccesary and experimental instead of the insurance companies; all while healthcare costs continue to climb. Enacting free market, piece meal legislation is the answer here, but we've put the National Socialists in charge. If you think healthcare is expensive now, wait until it's "free".

If you think the gov run health care is going to allow everyone to have insurance at the cost of the working man people you are all fools. The working man is tired of paying for the slackers as it is. I ask you why does insurance keep going up? Americans are allowing it to if everyone would stop paying insurance the crooks at the top would bankrupt and we all could start fresh and negotiate reasonable rates again. We Need Not Allow The Gov To Handle Our Health Care Death Is For Sure.

Americans also know that the dramatic yearly rises in health care costs, especially insurance premiums and prescription medicines may equal the Democrat bill costs in the long run. Leave it to the Republicans and we'll stay just like we are, plus millions of uninsured Americans will also remain the same. We also will continue to be denied coverage for pre-existing conditions or face cancellation for seriuous illnesses when it becomes apparent the insurance company may have to pay.
