I AGREE JETJOCK. ANNEXATION IS A BAD IDEA. THE PROBLEM IS GETTING OVER 50% OF THE PEOPLE IN ANY AREA TO LEAVE FARMVILLE LONG ENOUGH TO SIGN A PETITION AND THEN 55% TO VOTE IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE THESE DAYS. GOOD REASEARCH JETJOCK.

LO get ready bcz we did not want to merge schools and the county said we did so an annex or metro area is next bcz McCracken or Paducah cannot support a population to pull in bigger companies or larger retail stores. Once the new school is built that will become a city limit just like the information age park is city limits for tax purposes.Get ready or reincorporate now while you have someone pulling for you.

For those of you who want accurate information on annexation, go to klc.org, type annexation in the search window and click on the first link that comes up. For those that want metro or merged governments, the easiest way to do that is abolish the city and allow the county to take over those services and departments the city currently provides. There will always be a McCracken County government because the Ky constitution REQUIRES IT!!!!

Lynn, that was true years ago but the legislature changed the law. If 55% of those to be affected oppose annexation, the move to annex fails and CANNOT be brought back up for 5 years. You really should know the law before you post inaccurate information! Read the law for YOURSELF at the Ky League of Cities website:http://www.klc.org/faq_detail.asp?article=487&bct=Home/FAQs%20and%20How-To's/Legal

You CAN be annexed whether YOU like it or not. NO vote is needed.

The ONLY way the City of Paducah can annex ANYTHING is if the majority of the people affected by the annexation request it. Annexation is a dead issue. If the city and county merge, which I think would be a terrible idea, you are still going to have and be required to pay all of the current county offices, as they are required by the constitution of Ky. Counties and their elected officials are created by the Constitution of Ky while cities are created by charter and can be aboloshied at any time

If it comes down to it let ALL the Lone Oak voters choose what they want. They are the ones that will have to pay.

Lone Oak had better stay as it is, Lone Oak, if not you had better get ready to PAY..

what people in lone oak need to realize is that they will eventually be in the city limits of paducah and had better act now if they don't want that to happen. If Paducah and the county governments merge the next step will be all of Mccracken county will be Paducah.

Hey leave my Lone Oak alone. Were happy people live in Paducah if you want I don't care!! I don't live in Paducah because I love the country!!

We like being in the County just fine. Leave us alone, Mr. Dew!

This is the most ridiculous idea I have ever heard of! McCracken County SO and the State Police provide excellent law enforcement, the county takes care of the roads, we have sewers, water and LOFD. What services could re-incorporation possibly provide except maybe a job for Mr. Dew? Taxes are high enough without creating ANOTHER level of government we would have to pay for! If Mr. Dew wants to live in a city, move into Paducah and leave the rest of us alone! This is just plain dumb!!!
