Train derailment in Herrin stopping traffic

Web Editor - Ethan Fife

HERRIN, IL - Local 6 photographers are on the scene at a train derailment on Bandyville Road.

Local 6 was able to speak to the conductor of the train.  We are being told, while traveling through the Herrin area, multiple cars jumped the tracks and went off the rails.  However, no cars are overturned and the conductor said they are merely stuck in place.

The conductor said they think the Burlington Northern train will be stuck where it is at for at least 24 hours.

Local 6 will have more details on this story as they become available.
