Web Editor - Ethan Fife

FRANKLIN COUNTY, IL - Students were evacuated after reports of a bomb threat.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Department says at around 1:30 p.m., someone at the Zeigler-Royalton Elementary School discovered a message written on the bathroom wall that there was a bomb in the building.  Authorities were called and the students were moved to the high school gymnasium as a precaution.  The high school and elementary school are different buildings on the same grounds.

After a preliminary investigation, officials released the elementary school students early while the high school completed its day as scheduled.

A spokesperson for the Sheriff's Department says dgos and bomb squad members are coming in and will sweep the building for any possible threats when they arrive.
