The following is a news release provided by the Pella Corporation.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
MURRAY, KY - Jan. 28, 2010 - One man remains hospitalized at Murray Calloway County Hospital in Murray tonight as a result of an accident that occurred at Pella Corporation's Murray Operations at 307 Pella Way today.
"We regret that a team member sustained arm and hand injuries today while conducting maintenance at our facility. Our thoughts are with him and his family as he recovers from surgery following the accident and we are very thankful that his injuries are not reported to be life-threatening at this time," said Pella Corporation spokesperson Kathy Krafka Harkema. "We thank the Murray-Calloway County Ambulance Service for their assistance in transporting our team member to the local hospital, and everyone who has expressed their concern for our injured team member. We take safety seriously and are partnering with officials to investigate the cause so we can take steps to help maintain safety in our workplace."

The only people who think that Pella is a good place to work for are those in corporate or management. If the company asked their employees for the truth about the company, then they would know the answer. I would rather pick up trash on the side of the road than work for that place again.

First and foremost we should be concerned with the well being of this individual! That being said I can tell you that Pella is a very good company to work for. What happened here has nothing to do with the type of company they are it was just an unfortunate accident.

Did people say this about Briggs when Frank Burkeen was ran over and killed by a forktruck? Obviously this is a situation that no one wanted to happen and Pella should not be blamed if the man chose to bypass safety procedures.

You have the right to refuse and report any improper procedure, and cannot be let go for it.

Pella is not a good company to work for and people do not own their job to Pella. I have heard strong feelings from a lot of people about that place. All you have to do is ask. They stress safety, but push people to get their job down faster and faster; no matter what the cost. That is why people quit and walk out. People are having back problems and are now disable because of that place.

I do not work for Pella, but they are a good company. Most everyone works for or owes their job to corporations like Pella. Corporations have to make money to stay in business. Corporations are not bad.

Pella strongly stresses safety in the work place. Everyday at start up they cover a safety topic many people however choose not to listen. If this person is maintance, then he should know the importance to use Pella's policy "Lock Out, Tag Out". We are each responsible for our own safety and actions. Saying No would have been the best thing all around. As for the other accident, that person also went against policy, there should be two people present when operating. Pella is a good company

it was on the paint line and it was a maintance worker on amd side they did not want to shut down the paint line to conduct maintance so they rathier put someone life at risk. this is not the frist time ethier they had someone else break there arm in a machine while he was working by hisself and was stuck for at least 20 min. before anyone heard him how many times must someboby get hurt before the mangers wake up.

I hope it wasn't on AMD, the first thing that came to mind was one of the Cat's or Pultruders and that was a horrifying thought. My prayers go out to the poor person!
