P&L may build new "green" headquarters

WPSD Reporters

PADUCAH, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky has given preliminary approval to $400,000 in tax incentives for the Paducah & Louisville Railway to build a new "green" headquarters.

The Paducah Sun reported that the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority gave initial go-ahead Thursday for the tax credits, which will go toward a $4.2 million headquarters and end the company's search for a new home.

The new facility will replace P&L's crowded, aging quarters in downtown Paducah with a new 20,000-square-foot building.

P&L, a 265-mile regional railroad, has grown steadily in recent years by acquiring rail lines in West Virginia, Indiana and Illinois. Company president Tony Reck said the company has newer contracts with CSX to build and operate intermodal facilities in West Baltimore, Ohio, and Winter Haven, Fla.

Try working to them then people all I can tell you. Yes great there going green just don't believe that Paducah should be giving them money alot of other things it could be spent on when the RR makes plenty of money............ Reck and Green are good guys not gonna mention a few others out there that they need to get rid of though............. That would diffently save them 400,000.

half of you idiots on here that are making negative comments couldn't organize a one car funeral, much less a successful multi-million dollar business like the railroad. I think the fact that they continue to thrive in the midst of a recession speaks volumes about the leadership at P & L. They have always been a great bunch of people to work with. CLASS ACT.

No they don't buy new esclades for Tony Reck and Cadallic for green. New chevy or now some ford trucks for the foremans. I know whoever posted that so you get your facts straight. Maybe cut some of the big wigs pay obvisiously you can have houses as big as Tom Green and Tony Reck there making way to much money a year.

To bad that none of the previous post are true, why don't you get facts straight before you start running off at the mouth. They don't buy new cars every year for the employees, and Chevy Malibu's are so expensive. Wow, you people need to get a life.

I think its a shame this company can take money from the government and can't keep there employees working. Contracts are up and the union workers that keep the company in business haven't had new contracts in some time now. Pay and benefits especially insurance is horrible. Worst outfit as far as supervision ever, treat the working men like dirt on the soles of their shoes........
