Local HS students win major TV award

Todd Faulkner

Anaheim, CA - Some local high schoolers are celebrating after winning a national award for their work.

Students with Graves County High School's WGCE-TV won a National Title for Best High School Daily Broadcast (in the Daily-Taped category) for its daily 10-minute show GCTV.

The show features daily school news, along with feature stories, sports reports, movie reviews, and various other special segments. The award was presented during this year's Student Television Network convention. A little more than 100 high schools attended this year's convention with more than 1,800 students in attendance.

Twelve seniors from Graves County High School attended the event in Anaheim, California.

As a former student that was priveleged to be part of the GCTV crew for 4 years, I gotta give a BIG hand to Mr. Herndon who brought this studio to bigger and better things every year. If you have not had the privileged of scoping out that studio you would BE AMAZED at what he did with a classroom and a closet. Congrats to all of you!
