UPDATE - 12:45 P.M. - Suspect, Kurt Burris, and the stolen automobile have been located in a rural area on Union Grove School Road in Caldwell County.
After stealing the vehicle from Yates in Paducah, Burris traveled to his mother’s residence in Eddyville and an altercation ensued. Officers responding to the altercation were not able to immediately locate Burris or the stolen vehicle.
A short time later, Paducah police detectives investigating the case received information of Burris’ whereabouts on Union Grove School Road and it was forwarded to the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies were able to locate the unoccupied stolen vehicle around 7:45 a.m. A search of the area followed, and Burris’ body was located a short distance away, found deceased from an apparent suicide. The Caldwell County Sheriff’s office and Deputy Coroner Chris Pool are investigating.
Interviews are still being conducted, however it has been determined that Yates and Burris were prior acquaintances and that this incident is not a random act of violence.
PADUCAH - A Paducah man remains in the hospital after an assault at knife-point and the search for the man who assaulted him continues.
Paducah police say, 38-year-old Kurt Burris of Paducah started an argument at the home of 44-year-old Larry Yates. Burris pulled out a knife and assaulted Yates. Yates jumped through a window to get away from Burris and ran to a neighbor's house for help.
Police say, when they arrived, Yates' 1999 silver Mercedes was missing.
Burris is a white male, 6 feet tall, 190 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He is believed to be driving a silver 4 door Mercedes with Kentucky license Number S31854.

Wow I just can not believe this... I really don't want to. My dad did make alot of mistakes in his life, I can't deny that, but I will never forget his smile or his laugh. He wasn't always around, but when he was it was wonderful! I know that he loved me and my brother so very much, and oh how we loved him. He could put a smile on anyone's face, he just lit up my heart everytime I saw him. It's so strange to talk about him like he's gone, though I know that he is. His spirit is free and all around us, he will forever live on through me and Austin. Thanks for all the prayers... Soo the next time your feeling sad just think of my dad, with his beautiful smile and his gentle heart. I love you daddy, I know your at peace now, you have no worries. BE FREE!!!

kurt was my uncle n i miss him so much. he was the best. ill never forget him. he always had a smile on his face n made things so fun. when he was livin with us he made everybodys day brighter n he gave us something to look 4 ward to. i cant imagine what my cousins r goin through. he was their dad n uncle kurt loved them so much. i miss him but im leavin it all to god

I met Kurt when he wuz 16... Yes, he wuz a very likeable guy with a big heart!! This is so devastaing!!!!!! I just cannot understand why he chose to do this to hisself,& to his children!!!I just can't make it out!! Even tho he wuz only seeing his children every so often, they loved there Daddy so very much!!! I just wished he would have tryed to reach out to someone!!! Yes he wuz a very likeable gentle soul even when he made the wrong decions @ times!! I just would like to know why he did that to Mr. Yates, I want to say, the Family is so very sorry for his loss & our prayers go out to his family also ;( None of it makes no since, something went very wrong!!!!!!!! Our prayers go out to the yates's, And the whole entire family!! I've known Kurt since we were both kids and while he always seemed to be in some kind of trouble, it was never anything this serious. We always got along very well and everyone he met seemed to like him. He was quite a character. Kurt will definitely be missed here in the Fredonia area. Best wishes to the Yates, Burris, and Betz families.

This is very heart breaking. I worked with Kurt and yes he had problems...everyone has some kind of problem. I'm praying for his family and children. My heart goes out to them and Kurt will be missed very much.

This is extremely heart breaking. I know he started alot of trouble but death is permanent and I feel horrible for his family.
