Local science fair hosts hundreds of projects

Web Editor - Ethan Fife

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO - An area science fair keeps growing in popularity.

Southeast Missouri State University recently played host to a 400 student science fair. The regional fair brings together science projects from 29 different schools. Kids investigated different hypotheses ranging from whether gum chewing improved memory to whether it is safe to use a drinking bottle over and over.

The top two winners will go to the International Science and Engineering Fair in San Jose, California. That accomplishment is no small feat. The winners had to best 72 more students this year than in 2009.
