PADUCAH, KY -- The Paducah Inn's land has been on the market for two years and It's had six buyers.
The goal was to enhance the area, bringing people more restaurant options like Chick-fil-A or even a Golden Corral but those deals have all left the table.
In a complaint filed Wednesday, Kentucky Motel Inc. claims the Cafaro Company, who owns the Kentucky Oaks Mall, interfered with the business deals
Jim Lindblad represents the motel owner. He says the mall owners refuse to approve the prospective purchasers, claiming the businesses all had plans to build, plans that followed the mall's strict rules and regulations.
But for some undisclosed reason, the mall hasn't approved any of the potential buyers.
Lindblad claims his client is out hundreds of thousands of dollars, and that this is a classic case of big corporation bullying, saying, "There's got to be a resolution to the point where my client can sell the land and get development in there that the Kentucky Oaks Mall is happy with and that the public is happy."
The property is located off I-24 and adjacent to the mall.
Local 6 spoke to the mall owner's local lawyer, Tom Keuler. He wouldn't comment directly but did say the company could issue a response.
