Find a good job without a diploma

Stay at home parents, retirees, college students, and others across the Local 6 area are being pushed into the workforce, and many of them don't have college degrees. Here are some career fields to consider with decent salaries that require minimal training.

To become a police officer, you need to apply to the police academy but all you need for that is a high school diploma. Once you pass the police academy, the Department of Labor will often help you earn your associate degree in criminal justice. The average salary is $49,000 a year.

It only takes 9 to 12 months to complete an lPN certificate program to become a licensed practical nurse. Most lPN's work in a hospital or nursing care facility and earn on average $40,000 a year.

And to be an automotive mechanic you'll need 12 to 24 months with an automotive technician training program. These mechanics typically diagnose and repair vehicles for a licensed shop and can make an average of $50,000 a year.
