Williamson sheriffs involved in Herrin shooting

HERRIN, Ill. - Local police were involved in a shooting in southern Illinois today.

Illinois State Police Captain Scott Rice says Williamson County sheriff's deputies were issuing an order of protection against a man at a home at the corner of Circus and Tiger Streets near Herrin, Illinois.

Rice says the suspect pulled a pistol on the deputies and they shot him.  The incident happened at 11:15 this morning.

Rice won't release the name of the man shot, but a man at the scene says it was his father,  Robert Bandy.

No officers were harmed in shooting.
