Brookport begins early morning recovery
BROOKPORT, Ill. - With the death toll having risen to 6 with 3 from the city of Brookport, the city is continuing their relief efforts after a string of deadly tornados tore through the area yesterday.
A curfew has been in place all night long in order to keep residents safe and clear from the area.
Crews have already returned to the area in order to begin clearing and assessing the damage in order to allow for law enforcement and emergency crews to easily access the roads.
Local residents have picked up their own chainsaws and heavy equipment in an effort to do whatever they can to help the effort.
Many residents are waking up in storm shelters this morning, and the curfew will be lifted at 6 a.m.
