WEST PADUCAH - Two area fire departments responded to reports of a fire at the Shawnee Steam Plant late Tuesday.

The West McCracken County and Concord Fire Departments were first on the scene after reports that three of the plant's 10 steam turbines had caught fire. Several other local fire departments were put on standby.

A spokesman for the West McCracken County Fire Department, the only crew still on the scene, told Local 6 the situation is now under control.

There are no reports of injuries. The plant was briefly evacuated but all workers are now back inside the plant.

The plant reportedly has a fire brigade and a medic on site.
