METROPOLIS, Ill. — Floodwaters forced many businesses to close. One of those was Harrah's Metropolis Casino & Hotel.
Friday morning, WPSD Local 6 was granted exclusive access as workers opened the doors to customers.
General Manager Mark Osterhaus said his hands were tied until the water level dropped.
"We had a lot of time when we couldn't really do anything," Osterhaus said. "We were just waiting, playing the waiting game, waiting on Mother Nature to give us our property back. Once we got it back, we kicked it into high gear and have been working really hard to get it open."
People like Joan Faulkner showed up at 7a.m. ahead of the 9 a.m. grand reopening.
"I'm really anxious," Faulkner said. "I'm very excited. We couldn't hardly wait. I dreamed about it last night."
