Barnhill named new Chief of Police in Paducah, Kentucky

PADUCAH, Ky. - Paducah, Kentucky has a new police chief.

City commissioners appointed Brandon Barnhill to the post Tuesday night.  Barnhill is currently the Assistant Chief of Operations.

The new chief started out as an officer with the Murray Police Department in 1995 before transferring to the Paducah Police Department in 1998.

In addition to his current duties, Barnhill has served as a Patrolman, Detective, Sergeant and a Captain.

He was promoted to Assistant Chief in 2010.

Barnhill succeeds former Police Chief James Berry.  In July, Berry accepted a job as Director of Public Safety at Kentucky State University in Frankfort.
