MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY- Beau Anderson started a two month stay behind bars Monday.
He plead guilty to 9 counts of animal cruelty on Thursday. The charges stem from when he worked as the euthanasia specialist at the McCracken County Humane Society.
He received a one year sentence, but much of it was probated, so will serve two months behind bars at the county jail.
Anderson will remain on probation for 2 years and can no longer have a job where he is around animals.
The shelter manager, Dalena Hall went to trial in August. A jury found her guilty of improperly euthanizing animals.
But, her lawyer, Jeremy Ian Smith is doing everything he can to keep her out of jail.
Monday was the deadline for the state to file a response to Smith's appeal saying the charges against her should be dropped.
Smith had argued because she was not a veterinarian, vet tech, or euthanasia specialist at the McCracken County Humane Society the charges should not stick. The state, in their brief, argued the law says anyone who 'violates' the law should be guilty of a misdemeanor.
It also says the District Court acted within its means to try the case. Jeremy Ian Smith has long argued the case should have been heard before the State Board of Veterinary Examiners.
Hall received a 60 day jail sentence last month. A judge will rule on her appeal and whether she serves that time.
For now, Hall is continuing work at the Humane Society.
