CALLOWAY COUNTY, Ky. - A 40 slip boat dock overturned Thursday night as a storm system with rain and wind moved through the Local 6 area.  About seven boats were tied to the dock at the time and also flipped.

John Oliphant, the project manager for Western Shores, a subdivision on Kentucky Lake, says there is a first for everything.

"It's something we haven't seen before.  When you get the winds involved you never know," he said.

He said sometime overnight the boat dock flipped, damaging the $250,000 dock.

"You see storm damage and what not - you've seen this dock sit here for so long - you don't expect to see it upside down," Oliphant said.

Oliphant said there's no serious threat of any leaking fuel, but he's planning to lay booms to minimize any contamination.  He wants to start over, but must determine how to start the clean up first.

"I'm pretty good at a plan A, B,C in my job and I'm having a little hard time on plan A on this one," he said.

No one was hurt and Oliphant said he's grateful it didn't happen during the summer, when the boat dock is packed with people.

"It's humbling when you, it's like standing by the ocean. You see what nature can do. There's nothing to compare to," he said.
