Burkeen could see a change of venue for trial

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ky. - A local man charged with murder will likely face a jury of his peers outside of his home county.

Cory Burkeen's defense plans to file a motion that will change where he is tried.  That will delay his trial start date.

Burkeen pleaded not guilty to murder last February.

Police accuse Burkeen of driving drunk when he crashed into a car along Highway 95 in Marshall County.

The crash killed Landon Lovett and critically injured Shane McKenty.

Burkeen's defense wants to change the venue of the trial and it appears the judge and prosecution agree.

They say it will be difficult to seat a jury and provide a fair trail for both sides.

Judge Dennis Foust plans to give a final ruling next Monday.
