MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. - A man sent to the hospital after a wreck Friday morning was trapped in his vehicle for some time on Cairo Rd. before being discovered.
A single vehicle crash involving a pickup truck sent 62-year-old Clarence E. Garnett to Western Baptist Hospital for treatment.
The wreck was reported at approximately 5 a.m, but according to the caller, Mr. Garnett, who was trapped in the truck, stated that he had been in the vehicle for some time before being discovered.
The accident occurred on Cairo Rd. in the area of Schmitt Farms. The investigation revealed that Mr. Garnett was traveling westbound on Cairo Rd. prior to the incident, failed to negotiate a curve and ran off the roadway. His truck traveled through a ditch and then struck a utility pole guide-wire before striking a tree head-on.
Mr. Garnett was freed from the wreckage by firefighters from the Concord and Paducah Fire Departments. He was then transported to Western Baptist Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
