Canaan anxious for the NBA draft to start

Isaiah Canaan is set to make one last bit of history tonight for the Murray State basketball program.  Canaan will be the first Racer taken since Marcus Brown back in 1996.  If you look at the litany of mock drafts that have come out in the last few days, it appears Canaan could very well go in the first round. No Racer has ever gone in the first round.
Now that the wait for the draft is virtually over, the butterflies have started to flutter in Canaan's stomach.
"When you asked me if I was nervous a few days ago, I said I was more anxious," Canaan said.  "Now it's a combination of both. I don't have any control over what happens. I did everything I could to put myself in a good position. I'm comfortable going into it -- but who wouldn't be a little nervous?"
Murray State coach Steve Prohm arrived Wednesday night in Biloxi for the draft.  You know he'll be on the short list of people Isaiah hugs after he gets picked.  But who will get that first hug?
"My mom," Canaan said. "She and my dad are the reason I'm here -- and my grandma.  I'm sure they're all going to be around me and they'll be the ones that get the first couple hugs and then I'll work my way down."
Canaan's teammate Ed Daniel has an outside shot to get drafted late in the second round.  If he doesn't get drafted, Daniel will most likely sign with an NBA team as a free agent and try to make their roster that way.
