Couple finds decades-old school memorabilia at yard salePADUCAH — Before you throw an old box away, just check what's inside. A local couple learned that after finding some priceless history at a yard sale. Michael and Sharon Houser are what you'd call yard sale enthusiasts. They like to do what's called picking. They found an old ripped up box while doing some picking recently and found pre-flood programs and other memorabilia from what was then Tilghman High School. In this case, it's not worth much money, yet they recognized its value instantly, saying it was "like Christmas." The Housers met with the Paducah school board to turn over the memorabilia Tuesday. The school district's Lisa Mitchell said she has been working to build the historic archives and these pieces of memorabilia make great additions. The district is looking for more items and Mitchell said she hopes the Housers' donation will encourage others to dante school memorabilia. |
